It is a beginner's course so it is sufficient if students are familiar a bit with concepts of strategy and entrepreneurship and strategic management. I will start the course with introducing what a business model is, so no worries if you do not exactly know the definition of a business model. At the end the course focuses on marketplace platform business model (examples: Airbnb, Uber, Reddit, Quora) and there is a "bonus lecture" on system thinking, a useful tool to analyze complex challenges.
If they are not familiar with some strategy and entrepreneurship concepts like business plan and value chain, it would be helpful to read a bit these in advance.
