What you will learn
Welcome to the grade 1 violin course. In this course, I am going to present all the selections from the grade 1 syllabus (2020 - 2023). Each piece will include a video demonstration, with notes on the history of the piece or the composer. In addition, there are technical lessons to help you master the techniques or concepts that you need for each of the pieces. If you are aiming for a grade 1 violin exam, you will find everything you need here. At the end of the course, you will be able to submit a final check for assessment, to determine whether you are ready for your exam.
What you will need
To complete this course, you must purchase the Trinity syllabus book for grade 1. The book is valid for three years (2020 - 2023), so you can use it to complete your grade 1 exam within that timeframe. For your exam, you must play three of the pieces from the book. You should try to build an exam program that shows variety. Don't choose three slow pieces, or three fast pieces. The examiner wants to see that you can play in a variety of styles. This course will enable you to learn all nine pieces, but you will only need three for the actual exam.

Once you have completed the course, I will offer you a 30-minute complementary virtual assessment to determine whether you are ready to make a successful attempt on the exam!
