Brief Introduction
Build Financial Model from Scratch for Valuation and SensitivityDescription
The course prepares students for best practice financial modeling and valuation of companies
The course is led by the instructor sharing screen and building the model from scratch while explaining different concepts. This allows students to see clearly how the model structure is being developed in real time and replicate it on their own.
The instructor has reviewed, built and used many models over his career and looks to teach best practices to students so that they incorporate learnings into their own models.
Course Outline
1. The first part of the course goes over shortcuts, formatting and key functions in excel which are useful for modeling.
2. The second part of the course builds schedules that can dynamically link into the income statement, balance sheet and the cash flow statement so that the model can be easily manipulated and sensitized.
3. The third part of the course warehouses the assumptions and cleans the model - illustrating areas where the model can be improved, highlighting outputs, and tabs that are useful to include
After this course, it is expected that students are now ready to take their modeling to the next level to more advanced debt/tax modeling, macros for sensitivity, advanced output tables (i.e. tornado charts, bridges), and debt sizing/goal-seeking.
